Water Quality Status Update
The Broadford Water Treatment Plant remains offline. Significant progress has been made in the status of clarifiers and filter media has been added. Filter washes will be performed this week, and the plant is expected to be return to partial service this week.
The Oakland Water Treatment Plant continues to meet demand by running about 20 hours a day.
Customers on Alexandar Lane in Mountain Lake Park have been experiencing dirty water since Friday, October 9. This is the result of a valve leak that occurred at the intersection of Dennett Road and Broadford Road on Friday. The Oakland Water Department exercised a valve for emergency planning and experienced a rapid loss of water. While we have been flushing the neighborhood, we’ve been unable to flush as extensively as required due to the reduced capacity of the water system and the current direction of water flow. When Broadford returns to service, the neighborhood will be fully flushed. Per customer requests, the Mayor and Town Council will consider a bill adjustment for the impacted customers at the next meeting. The rest of the system has remained unaffected by the dirty water impacting Alexandar Lane.
