Bagged trash is picked up curb side every Wednesday morning.

If a holiday falls on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, pickup will be on Thursday.

Start or Change Service

All Oakland residents and businesses are eligible for trash pickup service. By default, residences are signed up for 0-5 bags per week. Trash service is billed every other month on water and sewer bills. Contact [email protected] to sign up for service or change your billing level.

Trash pickup service is provided by Sunrise Sanitation.

Important Note: The approved Fiscal Year 2026 Budget will increase all trash rates by 50% effective July 1, 2025

Residential Service Levels & Rates

0-5 bags/week: $5.00/month 
6-10 bags/week: $10.00/month
11-15 bags/week: $15.00/month

Commercial Service Levels & Rates

0-5 bags/week: $7.00/month 
6-10 bags/week: $12.00/month
11-15 bags/week: $17.00/month

No food service or hazardous waste

Yard Waste, Brush, and Bulk Item Pick Up

Pick up must be requested online or by calling Town Hall at 301-334-2691.

The Town of Oakland picks up yard waste and small piles of brush every Friday from April through October. All waste must be street side by 6am on Friday to be picked up. If you don’t frequently utilize the service, please request pickup to ensure your waste is picked up.

Please follow the rules so that we can operate this service efficiently for all residents.

  • Grass clippings may be left unbagged along the curb so that the leaf vac truck can be used to pick them up. These may be picked up separately or another day of the week based on staff availability. Remove sticks and other debris from the waste as the vac truck can be damaged by them!

  • Bagged yard waste must be in 20-gallon bags or smaller.

  • Brush may be picked up separately or another day of the week so that the chipper can be utilized. Large piles of brush (5'x5'x10' pile of brush or larger) will result in a fee to be picked up.

  • No animal waste or biohazardous material will be picked up.

Other miscellaneous items will be charged according to size and weight. Large brush piles will incur a fee.
