The Town of Oakland General Services department maintains 21 2⁄3 miles of roadway (~42 lane miles) within town limits. The General Services Department oversees paving, striping, and winter operations for the municipal streets.

Sidewalks
Per Town Charter C8-103 sidewalk installation, maintenance, and repair is the responsibility of the owner of the property abutting the street. The town government applies for grant funding when available to aid in sidewalk installation and repair.
Snow Removal
Per Town Code 120-4 property owners are responsible for clearing snow from sidewalks.
Bulk Trash Pickup
Each Friday, the Town of Oakland picks up yard waste and small piles of brush. Bagged waste must be in 20-gallon bags or smaller. Brush may be picked up separately or another day of the week so that the chipper can be utilized. Large piles of brush (5'x5'x10' pile of brush or larger) may result in a fee to be picked up.
