Dave Beard, Fred Gregg, and Jay Moyer will be sworn in for a two-year term at the April 7, 2025, public meeting.

The Town of Oakland is seeking a highly motivated and organized Town Administrator to serve as the chief administrator and clerk, overseeing municipal operations and ensuring compliance with town policies, ordinances, and regulations. Reporting to the Mayor, this position plays a key leadership role in coordinating government functions, managing financial operations, handling public communications, and supporting the Mayor and Town Council.

A public meeting of the Mayor and Town Council will be held on March 3, 2025 at 5pm at Town Hall.

February 3, 2024 Public Meeting - 5pm at Town Hall

On Monday, March 10, 2025, the Town of Oakland will hold a municipal election to elect 3 Council Members to serve a two-year term. Voting will take place at Town Hall, 15 South Third Street, Oakland, Maryland 21550 from 9am - 6pm.

The Town of Oakland is working on finalizing its update to the Comprehensive Plan and will host an open house to solicit input from the public on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 5:30pm-7:00pm at the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department. The in-person meeting will include a presentation on the plan development to date. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit stations to review and provide comments on the draft recommendations.

Oakland trash pickup over the holidays will be on December 26 and January 2. The schedule will return to Wednesday morning pickups after that.

Recent snowfall and rainfall have restored Broadford Lake to normal levels, allowing the Town of Oakland to lift water conservation restrictions effective immediately. The Mayor and Town Council and the Water Department thank residents and businesses for their cooperation and commitment to reducing water usage during this period.

After receiving additional feedback from impacted residents, the Town of Oakland will not adjust the 4th Street traffic pattern as previously announced. The existing traffic pattern will remain in effect with the 4th Street bridge remaining closed until it is replaced in 2025.

Beginning Monday, December 9, 2024, 4th Street will be closed to north and southbound traffic between Mitchell Manor and Brian F. Thomas Drive and the 4th Street bridge will be opened as a single lane. This revised traffic pattern will allow Mitchell Manor residents with access to Route 219 at a traffic light, while minimizing usage of the 4th Street bridge until it is replaced in 2025.

December 2, 2024 Public Meeting - 5pm at Town Hall

The 2024 Joy of Christmas Light Show at the Oakland Community Center, 14 N 8th Street Oakland, Maryland will start November 29 running from 5pm to 10pm nightly! The show starts at the top of each hour, with the last show starting at 9PM.

The show is created and produced from scratch by staff of The CHIPS Network in Oakland and is sponsored by several area businesses, individuals, and organizations.

Attention all Oakland water system customers: Due to the ongoing severe drought, Broadford Lake, our primary water reservoir, has reached critically low levels. To preserve our water supply and avoid relying solely on the Youghiogheny River, which is also dangerously low, immediate action from all customers is required.

November 4, 2024 Public Meeting agenda announced

At the October 7, 2024 public meeting, the Mayor and Town Council voted to introduce Ordinance 2024-04. The ordinance will increase Oakland water and sewer rates effective January 1, 2025. A public hearing for the ordinance’s adoption will be held during the November 4, 2024 5pm public meeting.
