Seeking Interested Residents to Serve on Planning Commission
Mayor Andrew Sauder is seeking interested Town of Oakland residents to serve on the Oakland Planning Commission for a five-year term.
The Planning Commission plays a vital role in shaping the long-term vision of Oakland. Members help guide the town’s growth and development by advising on the Comprehensive Plan, reviewing zoning and subdivision proposals, and making recommendations to ensure land use decisions reflect the best interests of the community. Serving on the Planning Commission is a meaningful way for citizens to actively participate in shaping Oakland’s future. The time commitment is modest, with meetings held as needed - typically about once per quarter - making it a manageable civic responsibility for residents with other commitments.
“This is an excellent opportunity for residents who care about the future of our town to get involved,” Mayor Sauder said. “The Planning Commission helps set the direction for how Oakland grows and develops, and citizen input is essential to that process.”
Interested residents must live within the town limits of Oakland. Members of the Planning Commission are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by a vote of the Town Council. To be considered, please complete the online interest form or provide a letter of interest and CV/resume to Town Hall at 15 South Third Street, Oakland, MD 21550.
