Main Street Oakland Seeks Community Members for New Steering Committee
Main Street Oakland is growing the work being done to support our downtown businesses, events, and community spaces—and we’re looking for community members who want to be part of that momentum.
The Town of Oakland is currently forming a Main Street Oakland Steering Committee and inviting residents, business owners, property owners, artists, and community partners to get involved.
This committee will help guide projects and initiatives that support the five Main Street pillars:
Organization – building partnerships, strengthening leadership, and coordinating volunteers
Promotion – creating events, marketing efforts, and experiences that bring people downtown
Design – improving the appearance and functionality of Main Street through placemaking and beautification
Economic Vitality – supporting local businesses and encouraging new investment in the district
Clean, Safe & Green – maintaining a welcoming, well-kept, and attractive downtown environment
Each pillar will have a committee lead, with additional volunteers helping support projects and activities. Participation is designed to be flexible and respectful of everyone’s time, with opportunities for both leadership roles and project-based involvement.
Whether you’re passionate about supporting local businesses, planning events, improving downtown spaces, or simply want to help Oakland continue to thrive, we’d love to hear from you.
